Had a meal here on Saturday 9th March of the evening, starters and main course only, three persons in the group.First things first, the setting is a great place right on the short but pleasant promenade at Penarth... a situation that, by day, will give you a nice view over the Bristol Channel, the promenade and the pier while at night, the view shows the delicately lit promenade. Parking could be difficult at peak times with the places limited to roadside parking, though, quite fortunately for Sid's, there are disabled parking spaces right outside, and an access ramp for wheelchair users.Inside, the available space is limited but tastefully decorated and tables are well placed with sufficient space, but let down by the access to the toilet which is quite constricted and not to be considered as wheelchair friendly, there simply isn't the room for a wheelchair to get to the toilets.Staff were all very friendly but got to the point where we felt that there were a few too many periodic visits from several of the staff members to the table to check on satisfaction, where one person to one table would have been better. That said, feedback was welcomed.Food - Some people may go for a 'volume' meal while others may prefer to pay more for a quality meal. Here, we all felt that the quality of the food was excellent, but there was also volume there too.. the first time for many years where I failed to complete two courses, yet still had a 'special' quality meal. The menu is very limited, just a handful of choices but we had no real issues selecting a favourite. Vegetarian/vegan dishes were limited to a very disappointing one dish in the 'starter' and one in the 'main course' sections.. as a 'Veggie', if you don't like avocado and veggie burger, you don't eat!The quality of the food though was very good.. tasty, hot and nicely presented. I took the time to speak with neighbouring tables about their experience and they too were very satisfied with the overall scene and food quality. To close... a place where I would certainly return and would recommend a visit.Suggestions for the owners:Food - present a wider menu to include more diverse choices in taste and to cater more for people's varying dietary requirements.Premises - Access for disabled or disadvantaged persons could be improved.Service - One person per table service.

Lovely food with friendly service from the staff
Delicious lunch. Limited menu (not aware before arrival). Chose beef dinner. Very thinly cut beef. No gravy with meat, it dic arrive but had to wait. Large table , waiter struggle with our and seating serving others. Lots of vegetables kept arriving which was lovely. Overall good service albeit slow, Delicious food although different temperatures. Will return as Sid is doing an excellent job.

Please note, this review was for Pickford's bar. It has since changed to "Sid's". I have not been there since this change. This is a great cafe and bar. This venue has long has some of the best views in Wales from its terrace but has historically suffered from poor execution. A recent change of ownership/management has made some very welcome changes. The service is now excellent, the food is fantastic and there is a good selection of beers and other drinks. We have eaten there as many time as the lockdowns have allowed and will be going there again . Don't have any experience of the rooms on offer but the cafe internal decor has been much improved. Long may it continue!

I stumbled across Sid's when I arrived in Penarth on New years weekend to find out my original accom had cancelled my booking. In torrential rain and feeling very down trodden with all accommodation fully booked I waked into Sid's restaurant and asked if they possibly had a room. All I can say is Sid could not have been more accommodating, he had a room for the night. Unfortunately I was too late to enjoy dinner in his restaurant however he recommend some great places locally. The room was great, tea/ coffee facilities, ensuite bathroom, had a very comfortable bed, was clean tidy and had a sea view.Breakfast in Sid's, was fantastic. There's lots of options and cater for GF and vegetarian.I highly recommend Sid's for food and accommodation. It's a fantastic location, I will happily stay here again. Thanks Sid for all your help!

Thank you for a wonderful evening. We decided to go for a swim on the pier and decided to walk over to have a glass of wine for my mother's birthday. They came out with small Welsh cakes with a candle on top and sang happy birthday to her.A simply lovely gesture to all of us and we will be coming back again for the lovely food, drink and charming atmosphere. The sea view is beautiful at night with the rolling waves crashing against in the distance.A must try if you decide to go swimming or want a delicious meal with a gorgeous view.

A great place to come for an evening drink and some nibbles to eat. We wish you all the very best in your exciting new venture. Come on everyone let's use it and not loose it. Roll on October we can't wait. The fish is to die for.

Clean, nicely decorated, Welcomed by staff on entrance. Service great. Food very tasty. Toilets very clean. Great views of bay. Fair prices. (Only downside was other elderly female customer who were seated after us, behind us talkly incessantly and too loud for us to ignore about her love life (!), family issues, other private things we didn't want to hear etc.... sigh.) Otherwise, had a lovely lunch. Thank you.
